Ploidy analyzers from QuantaCyte can perform ploidy analysis rapidly, accurately and with high precision. Nuclei extracted from cells are typically stained with DAPI or propidium iodide (PI). For DAPI-stained nuclei, the ploidy analyzer is equipped with a UV light to excite the DAPI and for PI-stained nuclei a blue or green laser is used to excite the PI. The ploidy analyzer can be equipped with both light sources so either dye could be used. For Genome Sizing, the nuclei are usually stained with PI since it is not base pair specific. For high-throughput operation, the ploidy analyzer can be equipped with an autoloader that runs samples from tubes or microtiter plates.
